Our History
American Elevators, Inc. is an Ohio based company founded in 1976 under the name Cincinnati Independent Elevator Co (CEI). In 2001 our founder, Ray Philhower, purchased CEI and changed the name to American Elevators, Inc.
We started with 113 elevators on service and 2 field employees. Today, we service over 600 elevators and employ 19 people. Our growth has been fueled by providing prompt, professional quality elevator service and repairs to the Tri State and Miami Valley areas for a fair price.
Our main office is located in Cincinnati, Ohio with a satellite location in Dayton Ohio.
We offer full preventive maintenance, service, repair and modernization solutions for vertical transportation equipment in the Central and Southern Ohio areas as well as Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana.
Each elevator service mechanic has had a minimum of four years of technical training that includes 8,320 hours of in-field experience. They each have a specific area of expertise and take part in Standard Work Practice (SWP) sessions to keep up to date with current ANSI, ASME, and OSHA regulations, industry best practices for safety and effectiveness, and advanced elevator service, repair and maintenance techniques.
Our Team
John Philhower
The President/CEO of American Elevators, and an elevator professional with over 30 years of experience in the installation, maintenance and modernization of various types of vertical transportation equipment. John manages the field operations and is one of our Safety Directors for the company.
Curt Koslovsky
Our VP of Sales, Curt, has over 25 years of professional elevator experience in surveying, estimating and bidding elevator work. Curt also manages the day-to-day operations for the company.
Tara Philhower
As CFO, Tara is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the company as well as payroll, benefits and insurance.
Patrick Philhower
As one of our Safety Directors, Pat is responsible for day-to-day operations related to Safe Work Practices (SWPs) such as the performance of Job Hazard Analysis, and Weekly Tool Box Talks to highlight safe work practices and adherence to OSHA regulations. Pat has been a member of IUEC Local 11 for 10 years.
Tiffani Jones
As Office Manager, Tiffani is responsible for handling reception, data entry in our software systems and a variety of other tasks that help keep the office running smoothly.
